Gonna start by saying this one is my favorite entry out of the Psuedonatural / Outer Planes group, there's a lot of elements in this one that bring it together. Ill start with the beginning with what sounds like stabs of a sakura plugin, that + the eerie wail and pad in the background give off mad Lovecraftian vibes in their subtlety and is a really good opener. Despite what you say about the brass, its actually my favorite part of the track each time it comes in, it really adds a sense of danger to the unnaturalness of the rest of the track and keeps you on your guard. I like how 2:46 and onward you managed to throw melody in there, but by making it half notes you still added a sense of "unnatural" to it as well, smart move.

The only critique I have is the section at 1:03 - 1:53 could use some more work, I feel it doesn't really fit with the rest of the track just in terms of style, its unnatural but its not as atmospheric. If you could fit some atmospheric element's in there it might bridge with the rest of the track better. but in general it stuck out to me while listening.

Overall sick job mate, I get a very cinematic feel with this track and could see it being used as not only a title track, but for a cutscene or scripted/special event in a game. The cinematic feel of it just says its a track that starts a change into unnatural territory and honestly I cant get enough of it. Amazing job dude!

Thank you! Nice call on the sakura plugin, had just bought it and was amazed how cool it sounded. In the 1:03 - 1:53 part, I like you said went for a more unnatural feel, but it would most likely be better with more atmosphere. This is the only song I have made that's in this genre so I was not sure how to handle that part. This is the most fun I've had making music so I'm happy you made this challenge, it was a really cool idea!

Out of all the tracks in the group Id say this one fits the prompt the best for being pseudonatural. The leads on here being in an unnatural scale easily sells that the area your in is not normal. Id say the only critique I have is the same as Kassich, where if you went 100% 8-bit on this it would def suit the style more + just some small mixing overall. Despite that, good job here man!

This is def on the more subtle side of the entries in our group but despite that you still nailed a pseudonatural atmosphere to this track. The sharp alien sfx throughout the background helps add a feeling of "unnatural" and the 6/4 time sig at certain spots helps add even more to that. Def my favorite bit is the arp near the end, just sounds really clean and compliments the song well. Nice job on this!

Im loving the melody in this, the backstory that goes with it is running my brain wild on just how this dimension looks and the other horrors you'll find in it. It gives that sense of uneasiness through the whole track and really tells you "Your In Danger". 0:57 - 01:35 is def my favorite part, just a small bit of reverb on that overall section could really make it seem even grander. Ive seen some people say the mix seems muddy but for the GBA/8bit style you did, I think it works well. Overall good job man, im loving every second of this

Whimsical, and yet, still a sense of uneasiness. I can see this with the scenario you painted, but I can also see it being used while in the archway as well. What comes to mind is as soon as they enter, its a massive light tunnel that propels them forward to the other side, but the entire time they can see glimpses of the world they left and the world they're about to enter, seeing how everything shifts from familiarity to unfamiliarity and surrealness. The piece not only conveys uncertainty of the moment but a suspenseful journey as well, and that's a double win in my book, great job!

Kassich responds:

Thank you for the kind words! I love that you could see the same piece from a different perspective, very cool!

Props on the mixing, you really did good on that to blend everything together to give it that calming atmosphere turned cursed landscape. You nailed the scenario of the title perfectly, I can see someone actually walking through a level/landscape in an open world game and suddenly the environment just begins to twist and turn into a surreal dimension.

This is interesting, I can see this being a boss theme to a pixel turned based rpg game.
The unique drum patterns, wobble bass synths, and note progression of the lead really come together and sets the mood that what your fighting is something not of that world, creating a really unpredictable foe. Nice job dude!
